ABOUT OMARU

 

 

Omaru Alpacas is owned and run by Rob and Siân Rickards.

We began our journey with these delightful animals back in 2011 at a time when the industry had settled down into a steady growth period. We joined the Australian Alpaca Association (Victorian Central Region) and have since experienced the highs and lows of working with the animals and the land. On the whole we can honestly say, it has been a very positive experience.

We have developed two main aspects of the industry. Primarily we farm the animals for their fleece and to breed quality animals we can sell. We have also developed the tourism aspect of the industry. We live within one hour of the Melbourne CBD and are easily accessible for day trips and winery tours.
